PRESS RELEASE
Road to School Foundation Set to Open Agbara Learning Center
Community learning hub to support out-of-school children, strengthen foundational skills, and expand educational opportunities in Agbara and surrounding communities.
AGBARA, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA — Road to School Foundation has announced the official opening of its Agbara Learning Center on Sunday, January 24, 2027, marking an important milestone in its commitment to expanding access to quality education and creating meaningful learning opportunities for children and young people.
Located in Agbara, Ogun State, the Learning Center will serve as a community-based hub from which the Foundation will implement its educational programmes, provide learning resources, and engage children, parents, educators, volunteers, and other community stakeholders.
The Center reflects the Foundation’s commitment to delivering on every child’s right to education by addressing barriers to learning and creating opportunities for children to develop the foundational skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to progress.
A Learning Center with a Clear Purpose
For Road to School Foundation, the establishment of the Learning Center goes beyond providing a physical space for learning. It creates a base from which the Foundation can deliver structured educational support, engage underserved children, and develop programmes that respond to the needs of the Agbara community.
A key component of the Center’s work will be the Bridge Foundation Classes and Learn+ After-School Support, two complementary programmes designed to support children at different stages of their educational journey. Bridge Foundation Classes will help out-of-school children develop foundational literacy, numeracy, and other essential learning skills, preparing them to transition into or return to formal education. Learn+ After-School Support will provide additional academic assistance to school-going children who need help strengthening their understanding and improving their learning outcomes.
Together, these programmes will help address two important educational challenges: expanding learning opportunities for children outside the formal education system and providing additional support for children already in school.
Expanding Opportunities Beyond the Classroom
In addition to its core learning programmes, the Agbara Learning Center is designed to support a broader range of educational and community activities, including reading initiatives, digital literacy, mentorship, skills development, workshops, and training.
The planned facilities include a library space, classrooms, a cyber room for digital learning, a studio, administrative and programme offices, and a mini conference hall for workshops and training sessions.
These facilities will provide the infrastructure needed to support the Foundation’s activities while creating opportunities for collaboration among educators, volunteers, schools, community organisations, and other partners.
A Community-Driven Approach to Education
Road to School Foundation believes that improving educational outcomes requires collective effort. Parents, schools, community leaders, volunteers, private organisations, development partners, and education authorities all have important roles to play in creating an environment where children can learn and thrive.
As part of its preparations for the opening, the Road to School Foundation team visited respected Nigerian actor and comedian Afeez Oyetoro, popularly known as Saka. During the visit, he welcomed the Foundation’s vision for the Agbara Learning Center and expressed his willingness to work with the organisation in support of its educational mission. The engagement reflects the Foundation’s commitment to building relationships with individuals and partners who share its goal of expanding learning opportunities for children.
The Agbara Learning Center will provide a platform for stakeholders to participate in educational activities, contribute resources, share knowledge, and support programmes that respond to local learning needs.
As the Foundation begins this next phase of its work, it remains committed to learning, monitoring programme outcomes, improving its delivery, and building partnerships that can help sustain and expand its impact.
The Foundation welcomes partnerships with educational institutions, government agencies, corporate organisations, community groups, development partners, educators, and individuals who share its commitment to education.
Support through books, educational materials, digital resources, volunteering, programme collaboration, and financial contributions will help strengthen the Center’s activities and extend learning opportunities to more children.
As Road to School Foundation establishes its presence in Agbara, its goal remains clear: to help children access education, strengthen their learning, and build a foundation for a brighter future.
Every child deserves the opportunity to learn. Through the Agbara Learning Center, Road to School Foundation is working to bring that opportunity closer to the children and families who need it most.
